A Sad Day for Football

At 42 years of age and after 20 professional seasons, Jerry Rice chooses retirement over 5th reciever spot for the Broncos'. Rice, my favorite reciever of all time, left the National Football League with 38 records. Rice, the master of one handed receptions, is the leagues alltime leader in catches (1,549), recieveing yards (22,895), and touchdown receptions (197). Being a Niner fan, even through the rough years, I remained loyal to any team Rice played for (Niners, Raiders, Seahawks, Broncos). Before '95, I had been to four home Niners' games and went to the Pro Bowl in 2003. My father had been to about 8 Niners' games and about 3 Pro Bowls. We're a Niner family. My Niners card collection has come a long way with 25 Joe Montana's, 18 Jerry Rice's, and others: Ronnie Lott, John Taylor, and Steve Young. I even have a shirt that exclaims my love for the 49ers. Jerry Rice will be missed.

"I never played for a legacy, I played because I love football." -Rice
