Lunar Eclipse Recap
There was no "shock and awe" moment during the eclipse this morning, in fact there wasn't really much of anything. It was definitely worth staying up and watching, and you could tell that there was a difference when it actually happened, but I have seen better ones. Because it was a partial eclipse there was only dark shadow, no red moon or anything like when it a full eclipse. It was a great night for the eclipse, really clear skies and the moon was bright and full. Everything basically happened right on schedule. I used my mom's camera to watch as the moon changed through it stages and to take pictures. You could see when the earths shadow was first cast on the moon, it was slight but visible to the naked eye. Then I would check every 20-30 minutes to see the progress. It did take a while for eclipse to reach its "max", but it was indeed fun watching as the earths shadow slowly covered more and more of the moons surface. I got some OK pictures, there is only so much you can do when you are using a digital camera and trying to take the pictures by hand. But it did have a big lens on it so the quality is pretty good.
