Well, the acer is definately not where you wanna go. They're very cheaply built. If it were a desktop I'd say definately go for an offbrand, but laptops are a different story. Your apple link expired, but I'm going to assume you were linking to the ibook. You should get a student discount on the ibook which would be 50 bucks off the cheaper one or 100 off the better one, which is a pretty damn sweet deal.
So basically, I'd say go for the better of the 2 ibooks its only 25 bucks more than the vaio you linked to and you get the luxary of not having to deal with windows/viruses/spyware, plus the sexiness of owning an apple product.
