Dressler Cabin

Yesterday Donnie, Scott, Sam, Logan and I went with Preston to his cabin near Mt Ashland for a fun night. It was an awesome time for the SOB. Sam brought his Macbook and we watched Entourage, when we weren't messing with the Mac Saber of course. Preston offered the shelter, Donnie and I brought food, Sam brought the entertainment, and Scott conjured up the famous "Scotty Special." After, we went to the top of Mt Ashland where Scott slipped in the remaining snow and almost fell down The Bowl. The cabin was awesome, good water and a generator to power our toys while away from civilization.

It was kind of funny, we knew that we were going to the cabin and we show up with Macbooks, Blogger tees and all our cell phones. G33ks k1ck uber a55!

Orientation

I have my orientation for Costco on Thursday, which hopefully means I will starting working soon. I'm going to assume that it is payed since it is manditory, but who knows, they might just wanna eff us all over and steal our entire day for nothing. Well, they did hire me, which I was lucky becuase I've only had one job and I left one day never to go back or talk to them ever again.

It's from like 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. At least they have some decent AC in there, which really means nothing because I might die just from being up that early and for that long. Whatever, make dat money ho!

Update

It been a great weekend 5 day weekend. Played some basket ball and football last Wednesday with Chris Aaron, Cody and Scott, had an interview (and was hired) Thursday morning, we had a crazy party on Friday, Saturday flew by pretty fast, and today Scott and I went and hit some balls out at Stewart Meadows.

Looks like this week we might go to some cabin, I think it's Preston's, and maybe even the water park in Redding. And of course we will hit up the infamous In and Out Burger. Donnie has Monday and Tuesday off, so we are looking to take advantage of this occasion. He's worked 38 of the last 72 hours, he deserves it.

Nacho the Luchador

I thought that Nacho Libre was awesome. Full of laughs, 'Eagle Power' and Satan's cavemen. There were definite "wtf?" moments, like the old guy that kept showing up to Nacho's fights, who was he and why was his eye all messed up? Perhaps he was also a man of the cloth turned luchador, and hoped that Nacho would rule the ring as he did in his younger days. We'll never know. Definitely a movie to add to your Jack Black collection when released on DVD.

Oh yeah, this was an SOB guys night out. Scooter, Sam-wise, Tophie, Prex and I were all in attendence and sat middle/center while owning the shit out of the theater.

So, Who You Rootin' For?

So, who are you rootin' for?
These are the national soccer jerseys that I have picked up over the years while owning the pitch. I have a home and away Brazil, home and away Netherlands, Jamaica, and the United States. My brother also has US jersey. Netherlands have always been a favorite of mine, they are 2-0 right now and go against Argentina next. I picked up my USA jersey while at a qualifying match in Portland some years back that was against Costa Rica (that stain is ketchup that never wanted to come out). Jamaica was picked up in Sonoma, California while at an elite soccer camp.

Anyone else have any National team soccer jerseys?

USA vs Italy Continued

The last review was pretty quick, here is something with a little more thought put into it.

Both Italy and USA played great. USA was a big underdog and steeped it up this match with hustle, patience and aggressiveness. Italy is a good team with a great defense. They are a highly favored team to win if Brazil doesn't take it this Cup. I am not sure what it ended out to be, but at the end of the first half, USA had ball control 60% of the time. Arena put a good lineup out on the pitch this game hoping to remedy and amp up spots that were not doing so hot last game. Blancanegro did good back there, his size really help when battling for the ball. The speed from Convey and Dempsey(ABC video on Dempsey) made it possible for the US to get up and outside and setup chances for the US. Donovan did great in the middle controlling the pace and getting to the outside.

USA actually won! Or should have at least. The goal Beasley scored was totally legit. Donnie, Scott and I certainly shook the apartment complex when the ball hit the back of the net. How can that be obstructing when McBride was like 10 yards away from the keeper. Shit, there was an Italy guy right next to McBride the entire time up until the shot. And it wouldn't be off-sides, McBride wasn't even part of the play, Beasley was shooting. USA took the ball down field, with only 9 players I might add, and schooled Italy, but the ref wasn't havin' it. If you can find a reply, which will probably show up on YouTube sometime soon, watch it. It's ridiculous.

I don't want to get started on the ref again, but I will. An elbow to the face, no matter who is, deserves a red card, hands down. But a late tackle, which results in no injury of any sort is not. Late tackles happen all game, after he issued the first red out to Italy, the red on Mastroeni was a make-up call. He ball the ball and his foot and had no previous fouls, but for some reason he deserved a red card. Same thing with Pope, except he had a yellow, had a late tackle but he didn't even connect with the Italy player he "fouled", replay shows.

I Give The Ref a Red Card

USA-1, Italy-1

The center referee completely blew that game. He was effing fast to pull out those cards (4 yellows, 3 reds). Pulling out the 3 reds left the USA with 9 players an Italy with 10. USA, I though, played awesome. They moved the ball around good and were patient. They were kind of slow to start the game off, but found a groove and went with it. Keller had a hell of a game and two beautiful flying saves. Dempsey pooned with foot skils and speed, Donovan had some good plays and opened some up fo rothers, and Convey hustled like no other. I think that Beasley needs to think about where he is at. He isn't playing club ball in the states anymore, this is the World Cup. He didn't hustle, which is why he didn't start this game because he didn't hustle against Czech either.

Just in...

I guess that the center referee of this game was suspended from the last World Cup because of irregularities in his calls, as reported by the other refs. SUSPEND HIM AGAIN! Those calls made the game ridiculous to watch. He made all these shitty calls in the beginning and then would call a single thing towards the end. Focing a team with 9 adn 10 players just makes everyone tired and slows down the gam eway too much. His name wasn't mentioned here, which is a good thing because I think that he may find himself in trouble with both Italy and USA fans after this game. He has taken 2 key players of the next game for the US and one player out from Italy's next game. Bullshit!

VOX

Has anyone heard of VOX? It's like this totally incredibly awesomely new networking service Six Apart has conjured up. It's private as of now and has been so since at least March, but apparently it is planned to be open to the public later this year. For now it looks like a majority of the blogebrities out there, and their friends, are enjoying VOX. Merlin Mann, Anil Dash and Jason Kottke are a few of the names of the many Pro-Bloggers using this new cooli-oolio toolio, yo.

What is VOX?

VOX is a new blogging tool that's all about sharing and creating. I've described it as a classier, more sophisticated Myspace. You can blog, share your Flickr photos, show off the books you've read, upload personal videos you've added to YouTube, and import your Amazon.com stuff. Merlin uses these features to the max. Web 2.0 fo' sho'! Everything (almost) you use daily on the internet is put right into VOX for you to use and share with others. And there is more coming! Of course, I can only speculate on the joys and ease of VOX until its open to all, but I think that VOX will end up being infinity more awesome then what I am describing to you.

They also have these incredible themes for you to add to your own all-in-one VOX page. The whole site itself is aesthetically pleasing, everything is so smooth and clean with great colors. Here is Matt Haughey's page as an example. He is the "Mac Saber", a fellow Oregonian, a blogebrity and runs a.wholelottanothing.org. You can see how everything is all setup, the theme he has going is sweet with the killer robots, his pictures he has upload and books he's read. He has his 'neighbors' list in the sidebar which shows when they last updated. It also looks like it automatically tags your posts as well, then in the sidebar it has all your tags used, combined.

Off the topic of VOX, it seems like a lot of sites are making it possible to import other sites services into thiers. Threadless is one of those sites. In the profile you can blog, you're able to add your personal site feed that shows your most recent update, share your recently uploaded Flickr photos and your del.icio.us tags. Here is my Threadless profile!

VOX is private and it's already exploding. I hype when hype is due, so are you ready for VOX? I know I am.

Moleskine Is Spelled C-l-a-s-s

It seems that when you need an authentic and classy look, you head right for the "Journals" section and pick up a Moleskine. If you had never seen a Moleskine before, you might notice it in theaters or on TV because of its classic look. But to anyone who has ever owned one, they can be easily recognized from miles away. This is a list of (almost) all the movies or shows that the Moleskine has made a cameo appearance in, and in no particular order either.
  • Amelie
  • The Rundown
  • State and Main
  • National Treasure
  • deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo
  • Da Vinci Code
  • The Omen
  • Deal or No Deal (UK)
  • The Son's Room
  • Indian Jones
  • Lost
  • Good Eats
  • Maria Jose' The Last Queen
  • Threshold
  • NUMB3RS
  • CSI
  • The Poseidon Adventure
  • The Triangle
I wonder what the exact reasoning is behind these major motion films and television shows using the Moleskine. Is it because there has been such an explosion of fans appearing online, or is it because it's look and history gives off an authentic feel that you wouldn't get with a regular 'ole ringed paper pad? Personally, it's like I'm holding onto something that has been around for a long time. I mean it has been around for a while, but more like when you have something that has been passed down in your family from generation to generation. It gives off a feeling in your hand like it been used for years, but will also remain in use from years to come. It seems almost permanent.

There have been other sightings of Moleskines on other TV shows, and even celebrities just walking around with them, but I decided to just list the more major ones. I found all these at either Moleskinerie, Wikipedia, or Moleskineus. I even submitted a coupled to Wikipedia and Moleskineus that were not listed before but are now.

30,000 WoW Accounts Banned!

Blizzard apparently has banned another 30,000 WoW accounts hoping to deter potential hackers and farmers. God it sucks when you have your account canceled.

When I played Diablo II Expansion online, religiously, I came across a family friend who also was addicted to the game and knew of way to move yourself up the food chain in the world of Diablo. I then made a separate account and began to ''bot" cow levels and Baal. Those levels had high rates for dropping unique and special items.

After a month or so I had a uber Barbarian who would demolish anything in its path. I had went online, mainly eBay and other sites to buy items, and purchased items to make him even more of a threat to every other player playing. Soon after both of my accounts were deleted by Blizzard. It was interesting that both were deleted, for that is the reason that I made two accounts, so that I would still have one clean account for playing. Somehow it was linked to my other dirty one and wiped out. I had at least $100 worth of items I had purchased online, a clan that would front anything i needed, and over threee years of hard works, before the bot that is. I bought doubles of some itmes though just one would put anyone else going against me to shame.

My friends and I were the Elite 7, God we effed people up. But...that was...a long time ago.

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

So I can't sleep because my aunt's dog is stinky and kept wining at me, it must know that it stinks like ass. I turn on the Tv and guess what on? One of my favorite movies of all time, "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids." I always wanted to tag someone in the head with a Super-Glued suction cup arrow and have them ask, "What is that?" And of course I would respond with, "Super Glue," is a very 'duh' like tone. There are too many funny moments in this movie to mention them all, so here is a quote from one of mine,

"Wait a second, it's a cookie, I say we fight for it! It's only one ant."

U.S. 0, Czech Rep. 3

The young U.S. team made some mistakes and just didn't look like they were ready to play. Some changes were made as well like DaMarcus Beasley playing on left when right side is clearly his strong point. Next the U.S. plays Italy, who are currently playing Ghana.

This is Ghana's first ever World Cup that they have qualified for and their first game on the this type of international level. When I left they were pushing hard on a very defensive Italy, who are a favorite to win if Brazil does not take it.

WORLD CUP '06!

Here you can find the complete schedule of World Cup 2006 (via Kottke). I haven't watched the World Cup in some time now. I played soccer from when I was 5 in California 'till I was 19 playing for numerous premier leagues and state teams. I've used to go to soccer camps in Sonoma and it was a ritual for everyone who went to watch the world cup. It wasn't mandatory, we all loved the game.

For some reason I'm totally hyped for this years Cup though I will miss a lot. I don't have ESPN or ESPN 2, so it looks like I will miss a majority of the games, unless I can manage to find someone that will let me occupy their couch, television, and food pantry on big game days. I have ABC fortunately, so it looks like I will get to see some good teams play at least a little bit.

I think that I am stoked for the Cup this year because I haven't played soccer since I graduated. That was the only sport I ever played for at least 10 years, and I played for every year, in two seasons a year as well (spring and winter). But I haven't played in over two years and when I pick up, well, start to dribble a ball it all seems to come back to me and I remember how much I love soccer.

Holding Your Breath

How long can you guys hold you breath these days. I have been fairly inactive for this entire school year. I used to be able to hold my breath for about 3:28 or so, when I was somewhat active. I just Finished my Sociological Imagination final paper, and after I laid on my bed and timed how long I could hold my breath. I did some steady breathing for about a minute then started holding my breath at the nearest minute mark. When I started I took some of those short, quick breaths, David Blaine style. There is a mirror across from my bed which I was staring at to pass time. When I started to struggle I looked at the clock. I was at about 2:20 seconds by that time. I then tried to lay as flat as I could and close my eyes to get all the time out that I could. Just before I stopped I opened my eyes to get a time check. 2:36-2:37 seconds on my first try of holding my breath without any warm-ups or anything. I was kind of impressed with myself. I can't remember what the average time for an American holding their breath was, but it seems like good number to me.

I think that with some focused training I can get my time to about 6 minutes. If I can do that, then I can easily hold my breath under water in a big fish bowl with hand-cuffs on my hands and feet for more than 8 minutes and 59 seconds, which would be a record. Then I would levitate out of the bowl and say "Adam Machado is all that is Man!"

Then I have a math final on Thursday next week, and the other I know nothing about(time/location). To remedy this weeks hell, the gruesome threesome will have a fun night later this week.

Effing Pwned To The Max

So, maybe a week ago my mom called me into her room and asked me what I thought of her cell phone's voice message. It was one of those prank ones where your say, "Hello? Oh hi! Uh huh. Sorry, I'm not available right now..." Thinking nothing of it I said it was good and that she should leave it.

Today(Saturday) I was to help my sister move out of her apartment and we needed to use my mom's truck, so I tried all the numbers I knew to get a hold of her. Her work numbers were not working so I called her cell phone. Can you guess what happened? Yeah, I responded to her away message. I went on for maybe a half conversation, on my part, and I was rushed for time so I talked really fast, before I realized it was her message. I was in embarrassed/pissed off/ "I'm gonna get you back" mode for maybe 10 minutes. Oh, but it gets better, trust me.

So after 10 minutes or so of stewing over the abuse I was served via her voice message, I tried to call her again. It rings a few times and she picks up. I then covered up the mic and yelled "Success" to my sister.
"Mom, you need to change your voice message right now! I went on for a freakin' half conversation before I realized it was your damn message! Allison and Alex laughed there ass' off after."
"Really?"
"Yeah, it was pretty sad."
"Uhhh?"
"Mom? Is this Debbie Machado?"
"I think you have the wrong number."
Yeah, I went through all that again and I called the wrong effing number. Classy. I tried to keep my composure while she was laughing her ass off.
"I Guess that I do [have the wrong number]. Have a nice day m'am."
I just got served, TWICE! I think that it is safe to say that I didn't gain any level on my "Nessy-O-Meter" on this strike. I have some real work to do.
